Sixteen line manuscript letter from Isaac Pulvermacher to Mrs Riddle advising in her case that a voltaic band, price 21/-, should be worn down the spine as a rule to strengthen the muscles, but could otherwise we worn round the head. He further advises that full direction of use will be sent and he is awaiting her favour. Quack physician and medical electrician, Louis Pulvermacher, made a fortune from his voltaic band in late Victorian England. His client list included such celebrities at Charles Dickens, and became of some cultural standing with the voltaic band making an appearance in such noted publications as Flaubert's Madame Bovary.
