First separate edition of this privately printed and one of the first printed works on the history and structure of Tudor timber framed houses. This key work by the London architect and antiquary, Charles Baily, examines glazing, fitted furniture, doors, stairs, internal room architecture, brick and plasterwork, timbering and first appeared in Surrey Archaeological Collections in 1862. Baily assisted in the roofing of the Guildhall and building of the Corporation Library prior to his suicide in 1878 during illness (DNB). A very good copy (some text wrinkling).
