  • £120.00

Bifolium, 32cm, 4 p. (third leaf blank; title to last leaf only "An account of ground inclosed (sic) at the Riverhead St. Johns 1st May 1811"), propatria 1808 watermark with initials GR countermark. This manuscript report, signed by high sheriff, John Bland, appears to have been produced at the request of the then governor, H.Elliott, and shows in hand-drawn tables the details of some 28 properties in the Riverhead, St. Johns area with occupier name, where situated, number of acres and whether cultivated or uncultivated. Bland states, amongst other things, in a short 100 word qualifying paragraph that he has consulted with W.Chaney, the only person qualified to "detail the particulars" and states that he can find no evidence of enclosed ground not leased by the Government.
